Chatsworth - 'Beyond Limits' Sculpture Exhibition - Derbyshire

This is an annual delight, and I really look forward to it, and this year was certainly up to standard, although with the marvellous weather everyone was out enjoying this special place, and I really wished I'd bought my tickets on line!
What I love is the way the pieces are so beautifully placed within the gardens of Chatsworth, so each is not only displayed to the best advantage, but often also seen in conjunction with other sculptures.
As will be seen from the following pictures, I often included people - in fact I often wait for folk to arrive and be in just the right position! I think this is the only way to give a size perspective, as a lot of these sculptures are really large.
This one, titled 'Miu' by Nadim Karam, was high up and really striking, although it was only when people approached it did I realise that in fact if had a mirrored surface.
Another one that I thought needed people present was this very striking golden ring, which I really liked. It was titled Riu' and was created by Pep Sirvent.
Within the Sensory Garden, most suitably, was this really gorgeous nude that I really loved, she was so very beautiful.

As expected the pair of sculptures that were attracting the most attention were those created by Damien Hirst. They stood alone at the end of the Canal Pond, which was a position that displayed them in all their glory.
Up close they were really lovely - both 'Myth' and this one which is 'Legend'. Everything about this exhibition was a real delight - it's just a pity that it's a year before it happens again!

Did you know that oil was extracted from under Sherwood Forest during World War II. Read my fascinating booklet by
