Chatsworth - Christmas Decoration 2011 - Derbyshire
http://www.aboutnottinghamshire.co.uk/
Christmas at Chatsworth is a highlight of my calendar and I always really enjoy it. I went at the time the Christmas Market was also on, as I've described in a previous blog.
However, this year it was only on for 3 days, but was still very good, and the smooth, plastic surface and the improved driveway were also much appreciated.
The theme inside the house for this year was 'Deck the Halls: A Visual celebration of carols' and every area depicted a different Christmas favourite. Immediately on entering it was possible to see this striking, gently rotating image of the 3 Ships which was in the middle of the central courtyard.
Above the Great Hall way was a dressing up area, which was proving very popular.
As always I thought it quite wonderful and must have been a great deal of work to create something so marvellous.

The familiar chapel was unrecognisable, having been turned into 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' and most effective it was too, with this striking cut-out in the centre.

The decorations will last at Chatsworth until the 23rd December 2011, and are well worth seeing. Normal prices apply.
